Les Baxter & Bas Sheva - The Passions

This a request for Tauffenbach who has offered Russ Garcia's Carioca in exchange, the link for which is in the comments above.
What can we say about this album. Bas moans and groans her way through various passions but always at the same volume whether its anger or lust. I think the villagers on Skull Island should have tied her to the offering pole instead of Fay Wray and the mighty Kong after hearing her angry bellowings would have headed for the hills and never been heard from again (except to consult his analyst). So if its cartoon exotica you're after here it is.

Happy Christmas to you all

It always amuses me that the Christmas cards, advertising and murals in Australia nearly always depict a snowy northern hemisphere Christmas with maybe a kangaroo in a red hat to add a supposed Aussie feeling. Well the reality is closer to the idealised picture above of the local coastline on the Sunshine Coast where the temperatures are usually over 30 degrees and everyone flocks to the beach to try and get skin cancer as quickly as possible.
The artist a young lass with a shop near the beach has done a few murals on beach change blocks etc and the above is a detail from one such mural and I think it sums up the summer feeling here very well. Her work is pretty marvelous and one day I'm going to buy one of her pics for my living room.
A happy Christmas to you all in particular you brave souls venturing out in the northern winter. The artist a young lass with a shop near the beach has done a few murals on beach change blocks etc and the above is a detail from one such mural and I think it sums up the summer feeling here very well. Here is the original mural in all its glory and following are two views of the area with the small island which you can see in the background if you look carefully and don't forget to click the pictures to get a larger view.

The Music of Film Noir
I love film noir and the soundtracks to film noir movies. I was thinking of doing a compilation but then I found a comp on another blog that is so good I thought why bother. Here it is with a link to the web page where I found it. Highly recommended.

Outriggers two albums

I'm pretty sure that at least one of these albums was a request. There is the usual delay and coupled with my age related absent mindedism I'm not sure who this was for.
After the previous fiasco with the Incredible Bongo Band post which appears to be a duplication of a Licorice Pizza post (I didn't do it ya honour honest!) I now will have to make a disclaimer that I apologise unreservedly to anybody from whom I have borrowed, misappropriated or just plain purloined these albums.
I have to say that if I'm going to steal from anyone Licorice Pizza is my first choice as he runs a really great site.
