The new site looks great!
Any chance for Cal Tjader, "Several Shades Of Jade" and "Breeze From The East"?
Many thanks.
Awesome site, Xtabay!
If at all available, I request Hawaii Calls: Presented By Webley Edwards: Ethel Sings In Hawaii (featuring Ethel Nakata). I foolishly passed up an opportunity to snag this several years back and haven't located another copy since. Thanks for taking the request.
If interested, I can make available from EMI-Toshiba Japan CDs (circa 2000) these Webley Edwards titles as follows: Favorite Instrumentals Of The Islands Vol. 1, Vol. 2 (Hawaiian Shores), Vol. 3 (Hawaiian Strings), Fire Goddess, Hawaii Calls, Hawaii Calls At Twilight, Hula Island Favorites, and (my favorite) Waikiki! Unless you've got virgin vinyl, you've never heard these sound so good.
Thanks!
thanks squinterlander your offer of the webley albums sounds mouth watering and I'm sure there'll be lots of takers for those shares unfortunately i dont seem to have the one you want
The Tjader albums are available as 2 albums on 1 cd here http://www.amazon.com/Several-Shades-Jade-Breeze-East/dp/B0000047E8/ref=sr_1_11/104-8498405-9972757?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1191709273&sr=1-11
I recommend them as a good intro to Tjader I usually only post if from LP or out of print.
Hey Xtabay!

@ Herr Vorragend
Sorry to see that you have taken so much flack over your blog. I'm new to Exotica and have BOUGHT many records I have listened to AFTER downloading some or all of it. I just like the sound quality of actual CD's or better the plastic! sales that artists would have never had without blogs such as yours and this! It's their loss!
Continue your great work! Request: PHIL MOORE-POLYNESIAN PARADISE. Thanks,Nature Boy.
Thanks Miko -
Best blog ever. love all the stuff you put up here. would it be possible to put up some hugo montenegro stuff?
hello, im looking for Laurent Petitgirard's Pop Instrumental de France. anybody hav it?

sorry, and another request is a SONG by LES BAXTER called TROPICALIA that appears in DJ KICKS selected by THIEVERY CORPORATION. i hav a song called like that appeared in KALEIDOSCOPE but its not the song i looking for.
Fabulous new site, and the posts are just as good as ever. You have great taste and great digitizing. Thank you for using the kind of "comments" I can write in, some blogs use a different one, apparently you have to have a blog to comment. I would like to leave good comments on some blogs, but it won't let me.
Hello Xtabay,
what a great place to get so many good and/or rare exotica albums.
Recently I made several very colorful poster-size artprints: among them are three exotica-style prints (AlohaTiki01, 02, 03). Please have a look at my webshop at www.bluehipster.com.
If you want to use one of them on your Xtabay-place I will make that suitable for your site for free (that's the least thing I can do in exchange...)
ciao
Bert

Hey Bert your stuff is excellent, such talent I wish I could do that! I'd be honoured to use some of your stuff I really liked the logo you did for Weirdomusic
Well thank you Xtabay
Just tell me what you want to use or what you want me to make and I will make it.

Bert
I would love to hear the following:
- Moon Gas by Dick Hyman
- Music From Outer Space by Harry Revel
Thank you very much!
Hello Xtabay
Please use my e-mail (bluehipster@planet.nl) and just tell me what you want to use or what you want me to make and I will make it. The more you specify your wishes the better it will get...

Love your site! I recently fell in love with Lounge/Exotica thanks to the Ultra-Lounge CD series. Great stuff here. I plan to check out some of the downloads--I'm especially interested in the music of Martin Denny, Les Baxter and Yma Sumac.
Just discovered this site. Thanks for all the work you've put into it Xtabay. Very impressive collection and very cool.
Any chance of putting up anything by Yma Sumac?
Thanks for keeping up a great site. I've kept with it through it's various addresses and stages. Good stuff. Was wondering if you had and could post Si Zentner's The Stripper LP. I have the vinyl but my player is wearing down and would definitely like a cd copy to listen to in the car and such.
Thanks for sharing so much great stuff!
@ B-SOl:
Here's Yma Sumac's Fuego Del Ande and there's some more over at everyone's favorite composite being of impeccable musical taste, Mr. Snookles!
@ Joshua:
I have Si's Stripper LP but haven't got around to ripping it yet. If no one beats me to it, I can probably do it over the next few days. If you haven't got his famous "Swinging Eye" it too can be found @ Mr. Snookles right here.
Lounge On,
LT
Thanks a million LT!!
Just stumbled across your site, and first I wanted to say how impressive it is. Looks like a real labor of love, and with a lot of great music. I love that you reproduce the album art too, since that was so much a part of the exotic/Space Age mystique. I'm really looking forward to exploring here.
I also had just one request. Any chance you have Ferde Grofe's soundtrack to Rocketship X-M, the 1950 sci-fi film? I know it was released on LP sometime in the late 1970s. I've heard snippets but have never had a chance to hear the whole thing. If you've got it, could you please post it?
Thanks, and thanks again for a great site! From a new fan.
Theres a couple of tracks from Grofe's score here:
http://musicyouwont.blogspot.com/2007/10/halloween-at-mypwhae-part-3-sci-fi.html
Unfortunately I dont have the whole album and I have a feeling its mind numbingly rare.
If anyone has any Marty Manning or anything similar to his Twilight Zone Soundtrack album posted here a while ago it would be greatly appreciated :)
@ Joshua Wittenberg,
Here's Si's Stripper - it's not perfect, this LP was a little rough 'round the edges - particularly side 2. There were a few scratches that I did my best to smooth over and well over 100 pops that I removed manually. Too bad too because it's a pretty good record - love his version of One Mint Julep.
-LT
Happy Holidays?!
Does anyone know where The Magic of Christmas - The Soulful Strings might be presently available?
Thanks much.

http://rapidshare.com/files/67741780/ThePrimitive___The_Passionate.zip.html
Thanks for the response on Grofe. Actually, I already gobbled up those tracks from Lee Hartsfeld's excellent blog -- it was his posting them that reminded me of Rocketship X-M and got me hoping to find the whole soundtrack. Oh well, I'll have to see if I can find a copy at a sane price. In the meantime, thanks again for your response and for your outstanding site!
Hello Xtabay!!! I must admit that your site is the best that I 've come accross in my few months of netsurfing. Incredible work - hope you keep up 4 ever, man! exotica is never enough for us... I team my voice with fellow exotica fan called "nature boy" (i would love to have you in Athens, beloved Yorgos!) and i would be grateful if you could come up with Phil Moore's "Polynesian Paradise" - a much sought-after LP (he has also composed masterpiece with vocalist Leda Annest).
Other titles i would love to listen to include:
Mystic Moods Orchestra - Mexican Trip (Philips/Mercury 1967)
Claudine Longet - Love Is Blue (A&M 1968)
Joe Meek - The Assassination of JFK: Four Days That Shocked the World (RPM 1991)
Lalo Schifrin - The Venetian Affair (1967)
I wish you all the best. man! If you are looking for something that i might have, just ask... My best regards
Iraklis Renieris (a.k.a. DJ Bwana)
thanks for your kind comments bwana I have the Phil Moore and the Longet but not the others I'll see what I can do about an upload in the next few days
OK, maybe these are some pretty major albums, but I've just recently discovered this stuff so bear with me...
Any chance of getting:
YMA SUMAC
Voice of the Xtabay
Legend of the Sun Virgin
Mambo!
MARTIN DENNY
Exotica II & III
Hypnotique
Quiet Village
The Enchanted Sea
LES BAXTER
Ritual of the Savage
Tamboo!
Does anyone have these ?
The Outriggers - Rapture
Rex Kona - Trade Winds
Hey! Finally, I found the new site. Excellent. Thanks for all the great shares!!! I would like to request Andre Kostelanetz - Lure Of Paradise, there's such a great Bali Hai on it..
@B-Sol: Legend of the sun virgin - try: http://www.badongo.com/file/389441
hope it works
cheers
Love the new banner, Blue Hipster is The Man.
I'm really suprised at how "clean" it looks, what resolution is it?
All the best
Jason
Oh wow, a complete NEW LOOK!!
The banner looks perfect, Blue Hipster for sure is doing a good job - but to me it almost looks TOO perfect... I can't help but miss your old 'Exotic Moods' header - that one perfectly said it all...
The font is much smaller on this template, and harder too read - plus: you can't use the side part, which makes it also more narrow...
But to mention at least ONE positive aspect - the leopard fur is neat!! ;)
Hi Lucky
When I first saw the logo I laughed at its Picasso influence. Bert showed it to me about 2 weeks ago and I've liked it more every day. Its very unique. It was originally a sort of purple hue but I like it now. I don't know what you mean about the sidebar it seems to look OK in Firefox and Explorer. I can read the font just fine on my 32inch LG LCD TV which I'm using as a monitor and my eyes arent the greatest. I could increase the size of the main column and sidebar but sometimes that can spoil the effect of the page. I'll do some experiments and see whats best.
I've taken a lot of the graphics from the sidebar so the page loads faster.
Glad you like the leopard skin I did that myself using the cover of an Ultra Lounge compilation
Xtabay - I see you're playing with your new layout...
You're right about the new one - it's getting better... It reminded you of PICASSO? Maybe I missed his Exotica phase, after the Blue and before the Rose...
What I loved about the header from your old site was the 3D-feeling - the volcano in the back, the girl in the pot, and your avatar pic next to her banging the drum! Mark Ryden, the artist who made the 'Exotic Moods' cover, still owntshe copyright, I assume - so it's probably the best choice if you stick to the new one...
I don't like italic fonts on blogger, they all look 'broken' to me - sadly there's no Antialias function to smoothen the edges... - but the bold font is easier to read! I'm not quite sure how big my monitor is, but I think it's 15-inch - are Australian inches any different than English?? But 15-inch still is small - no wonder I can't read it...
Cheers!!
whew 15inch that seems low! Mind you my laptop is about that and I don't seem to have a problem with it. My main monitor is a 19inch LCD which is a nice pic. I see your point tho I viewed the site on the 19in and the main text area did seem to be narrow the TV monitor makes it look much wider something to do with the resolution I guess.
We are actually decimal but everyone still refers to TVs and monitors in inches, seems to make more sense somehow.
Yes I agree that Ryden does have rights to his art but I should think the publicity would be handy. Lots of people asked me about the pic. I might put it in the first post as a link to the old site.
I don't know why that picture reminds me of Picasso something about the girls features reminds me of Guernica. I've been to Picasso's old house in Barcelona and its definitely not from that period which was his blue period I think.
Love the new pad X, especially the Ultra-Lounge background.
That slideshow looks familiar ;)
Yours is still one of the best sites around, and the music shared is second to none.
A big thanks again for all the great shares from the past several months, much appreciated :)
All the best from The Crime Lounge
Jason
Xtabay, since you mentioned that you put the Fire Maide up for me, I'll try to help to improve your lovely blog: here's my scan of the Baxter cover:
tinyurl.com/2xujlh
Had to do a little retouche at the center fold, but it's okay, I think. Feel free to use it, if you like.
Lucky
Thanks for your comments Jason and yes great minds think alike I pinched the slide idea from your site (which is great by the way)
Of course Lucky I should have realised you'd already have the Baxter cover but I'll leave it there as a reminder of glory days past.
Xtabay, it would be really great if you could post that Billy Ward Pagan Love Song LP if you've got it. Cheers, Miko
Hi !
I try to post a comment yesterday but it seems that something messed up !
I am a faithful reader, like any exotica enthousiast around this globe, am i wrong ?
Everybody is talking about your blog design since your re-opening, so what do you think of this :
http://rapidshare.com/files/69315573/leopard.jpg.html
Thanks.
Keep the good work going on.
Phantom I can see from your handsome visage that you would appreciate the finer things in life including exotica. I liked your leopard skin but mine looks more luxurious somehow. You are not wrong and I will definitely keep the good work going on.
Hey Xtabay
Love the new look a real change from the previous, its always good to see things evolve.... keep up the great work. Think we need to remember that you do this for the love of the music we all love... thanks for everything
Hello Xtabay
great site, great music and a great new design.
BlueHipster rules!!

Xtabay - can you see my computer - or are you a spy-robot? I actually use the Fire Maiden as desktop background... :)
Ron,
So many of your recent posts have included my requests (or in the case of the Phil Moore a request-to-be) that I've been busy downloading and listening and so haven't left appreciation for a while. But I wanted to tell you that yours was the first music blog I discovered and the first to download from and while there are many good blogs out there right now, I think I started at the top. Yours is still the first one I turn to. Many, many thanks.
Robert
P.S. My last requests met with such success (Thanks to everyone, especially Quinlan.) that I'm back to ask for more. Anyone have any of the following: (None of these are Exotica; most are in the Latin Lounge mode.)?
Billy Vaughn:La Paloma(Billy Vaughn Goes Latin)
Chico O'Farrill:Frenesi
Robert Mandell and the Melcarino Strings:Stardust
Don Costa:Classic Movie Themes from the 50's and 60's
Carlos Campos:Bailando Con La Orquestra
All potentially great listening, judging from the excerpts I've heard. Thanks in advance to anyone who shares these.
Hello Xtabay
very nice site and a beautiful art&design. Thanks!

Re:Billy Vaughn,
Thank you, Fiammetta, for your kind share of this album. I've looked for it unsuccessfully for several years.

You are welcome, Robert.

Hey X---
I humbly request a posting of any fun Christmas music you know of -- "fun" meaning that the music has gotten a tiki/surf/lounge/space/etc. treatment.
I hope that's not an annoyingly perennial request.
The music you have posted has utterly delighted me. Thanks so much for the time you devote this great site.
---Ross
I am always waiting for "The Magnificent XII" a LP of Felix Slatkin and his fantastic strings. Label: Liberty in USA or London/Decca in UK and Europe. Many Thanks.
Fiammetta
Fiametta I don't have that Slatkin album but maybe one of my visitors sees this and obliges with an upload
Hi. I just found your blog and I wanted to tell you I love it. I am new to Lounge Music, but so far I have really liked White Goddess, Pagan Festival, and African Sounds. I also liked Music Out of the Moon. Thank you for introducing me to an entire genre of music I was not familiar with!
Thanks, Xtaby - this is a great site with all my favorite music. I've got some exotica vinyl I should digitize & share
What a fantastic site! With the holiday season bearing down on us, might anyone have Esquivel's "Merry

Many thanks!

Thank you thank you thank you for the Esquivel! You've made my day!
WOW! Your site just keeps getting better! Being a long time fan, I finally have to ask: about how long does it take you to compose and post an entry? Your hard work really shows through! Thanks for keeping it up.
thanks nips for your comments modifying the template is the hard part that can take quite a few hours posting isnt so hard about half an hour for a simple post then there's preparing and uploading files so it can be time consuming
Hi. I already thanked you for this wonderful site. I recently downloaded Les Baxter's music out of the moon. It seems that the tracks 'Lunar Rhapsody' and 'Radar Blues' are repeats of the same track. Just wanted to give you a heads up. I really like the album and want the missing song!
Here you go Jonathon courtesy of Licorice Pizza its OK cos I dled it myself

Hello, Xtabay!
I have one request and one gift. The gift is CARIOCA by RUSS GARCIA:
http://www.4shared.com/file/32346955/1c592448/RUSS_GARCIA-CARIOCA_MP3.html
The request is "THE PASSIONS" by Les Baxter with Bas Sheva.
Thanks a lot and enjoy the CARIOCA!
Hi Tauffenbach thanks for your quid pro quo share even tho it took a while to negotiate the dl site - the download button is not the right one to press!
The Passions should be available soon.
Thanks for the great scan from the Ultra Lounge Les Baxter CD.
Using it as my background on my work computer.
Recently, we all got new cubicles at work and a link to Wired magazine has been circulating called "Fantastic Fixes Help Your Sad, Pathetic Cubicle".
www.wired.com/techbiz/it/multimedia/2007/12/gallery_cube_fixes
The first setup "features faux-bamboo walls, hanging lanterns and plenty of plants to add privacy." I can't redecorate, but the background adds some charm, and its a big hit with the other cubicle dwellers!
well martooni you have my sympathy. i worked for years in that sort of environment but luckily scored a reasonably large office before I retired - when I visited the office later my replacement was in what appeared to be a triangular broom closet and the remainder of the poor schnerds were shoehorned into a cubicle space one third of what it had been, boy was I glad I'd left. One geezer was in a tiny alcove in a hallway in a space meant for a fax machine. He had to breathe in when people went past.
By the way I loved the casino makeover and I actually had the Fordidden Planet poster on my wall at one stage.
Can anyone help me with a link to Richard Hayman's 'Voodoo', preferably in Stereo.
I've searched and searched for this, but all Rapidshare links have come up as 'File not Found'.
Thanks a lot.
Fabulous blog! Just found it, have downloaded most of it, and listened to about 1/2 of it. Of all the delightful treasures here, the most charming to me is the Fantastic Strings. I've followed the links at Konatiki for more of the same, but like the site, the links are all dead. Is it possible you have some more of their albums? If so, I'd be very grateful if you could post them! Or just point me to them. Thanks again for all your hard work!
A Holidays request : CHAINO (everything). Thanks and happy holidays! MARK
Hey, thanks bad santa. I just downloaded and listned and it sounds great. Man, that is a great album. The missing song (Lunar Rhapsody) adds to it too.
Hey Merry Xmas, been here for a while now quietly watching. It's been a great year for great music for me and all thanks to you!
Keep up the great work
Yours
Jonny
I love your site.
My brother in law emailed me the link this week.
I'll be back.

I wondered if you or someone else has 'Seduction' by Bill Irwin and Group. I've never listened to this one, so I 'm very curious what it might sound like.
Thomas
You are the best, Xtabay! Thank you for making my life a bit less mundane!
Oh...and I, too would love to have: Warren Barker - Music of Desire
If anyone has anything by Walter Wanderly, it would be greatly appreciated :)
Amazing site! I'd love it if you'd repost Marty Manning's Twilight Zone, Yma Sumac's Miracles, and if you can get the Fred Katz OST of Little Shop of Horrors, I'd be in Paradise (a tropical one, of course!)
My request:
Nino Nardini & The Pop Riviera Group.
Funky lounge music you'll never forget. Trust me.
@buglady:
I have the Little Shop of Horrors OST by Fred Katz. Will upload it, but it might take some time. Please be patient. :)
Hi, I'm Missy from Atlanta. I am compiling music for a college radio show here in town, and your site has been a godsend. There is only one thing I am seeking that you do not seem to have. THE MALLET MEN. I have searched everywhere, and these are the guys I can just never find. I heard a couple of songs on Ultra Lounge comps, and they are probably my favorite sounding mallet ensemble ever. must find more. must.
I have some requests:
Les Baxter "Young Pops"
Jack Costanzo "Afro Can-Can"
Stu Phillips "Harry Revel's Music From Out Of Space"
Mike Simpson "Jungle Oddysey"
Dick Schory "Music To Break Any Mood"
Kevin

BTW the Marty Manning album you've requested is still available at the archive section, here at Xtabay's.
I'd like a repost of CARRIBEAN MOONLIGHT by Les Baxter if anyone has it.
Thanks for everything!
@ anonymous
Here is Les Baxter's Carribean Moonlight as I picked it up somewhere in blog-o-sphere, thanks to the original uploader.

Reur request concerning Walter Wanderley.
I advise you to go to the very fine "Loronix" blog there:
http://loronix.blogspot.com/
He has a search engine at the top of the main page on the right hand side called "find it".
It's very easy to operate.
Search Walter Wanderley by artist name and you'll find 19 albums of him.
Good luck
@ buglady
Your request for Yma Sumac's "Miracles" is fulfilled in the following link with my appreciation to the generous original uploader:

Enjoy
Thank you. You have brought back memories of times gone by.
