Voodoo Cheesecake

Here's a little montage video I cooked up using some cheesecake record covers and the Voodoo Dreams track. Came out rather well I think. Warning a couple of the covers might be NSFW.

Lalo Schifrin - Gone With the Wave

Another fine Lalo album courtesy of Paul Troon. Suits the mood here OK, but for you in the Northern Hemisphere perhaps a reason to look ahead for that warmer weather.

Jungle Drums

Here's a compilation of different versions of exotica classic Jungle Drums. That should kick start your xmas and new year parties.

Thanks to Tikiyaki Orchestra and other artists for sample tracks included in this and other compilations. Check sidebar for links to them and other featured artists of cool exotica and lounge music usually with mp3s and feeds available.

Cocktail Nation and Martini Kings

Koop Kooper is a Sydney dude who runs a podcast site called Cocktail Nation with some cool podcasts of rare lounge music and interviews etc. He's up to show 54 so he's been around for a while.

Anyhow I downloaded a recent show and discovered a Hollywood exotica group called the Martini Kings. From the couple of tracks I've heard the heritage of Martin Denny is alive and well.

Here's their version of Quiet Village and watch for the slight accident towards the end.

Scrooge McXtabay wishes you all a merry Xmas

Scrooge McXtabay discovering the money at his feet is only Monopoly money.

I try to ignore Christmas but it always catches up with me. It seems to be starting earlier each year with some stores mentioning it just after mid year. The original message is completely lost of course with the main theme being as our Prime Minister says "spend. spend. spend" and in fact he's given a lot of people thousands to spend (unfortunately I'm not one of the lucky spendthrifts). Of course this throwing of money at some lucky people which comes from god knows where is not going to solve a deep seated economic crisis but it might help some people feel better for a week or two.

Anyway I was going to share my favourite Xmas albums as there's very few I actually can listen to without feeling ill but they are all available on the net and are featured in the sidebar.

The Soulful Strings, Hollyridge Strings, Beach Boys, Blue Hawaiians and Phil Spector albums are good in their own right Xmas or not so if you haven't got them they are essential listening.

Anyway enjoy Xmas and just remember that the real message of Christmas is getting together with family and loved ones and giving joy especially to the young ones.
